Stayed at the Marriott Preston last weekend. Excellent facilities including a spa, pool and gym.The bedrooms are high quality ours had a very comfortable super king size bed and excellent in room AV. They have two restaurant areas and a palatial bar. The main restaurant is the Cast Iron Grill which is advertised as a gourmet experience. However, our experience was not quite as stated. The restaurant had one member of staff on duty on a Saturday night, the restaurant was quite full so the service was slow and the waitress was rushed off her feet. We really felt sorry for her as many of the people eating were complaining. The food was ok but no better than a “beefeater” and certainly not gourmet. Rather spoilt our evening. Breakfast the next day was in the same room and was a very extensive and high quality buffet. A chef was on hand to do omelettes or other bespoke requests All in all the iron grill was disappointing but the Marriott Preston is a good quality hotel with good facilities and close to all the major roads .
